Buying a home

The EMI, the interest, the cash before the keys and what is left of your savings afterwards. What you type stays in your browser unless you ask for it to be kept.

Step 1 of 5Before you start

Before you buy, understand what the home will actually cost your family.

A home loan is usually sold on one number: the EMI. It is also the one number that cannot tell you whether the home is a good idea. Stretch the tenure and the EMI gets smaller while the total gets considerably bigger.

This walks through the whole picture — the EMI, what the loan adds in interest, the cash that has to be found before the keys, what your month looks like afterwards and what is left of your savings.

Everything you type is worked out in this browser, and none of it goes anywhere unless you ask at the end for it to be kept. You do not need an account, and the result is the same either way.
